I have a question for you.
I have a 2000 328i with just over 100k on it.
Took it out for a very short drive today and it ran fine. Jumped back in about a half hour later and when I went to start it, it ran very rough and stalled out, tried to start it again and again the same thing, ran very rough for about 15 seconds and stalled. I though it had vapor lock because it was pretty hot today and the engine was also hot.
I let it sit for a couple hours and tried it again, it cranks just fine but seems like it isn't getting any gas.
I was looking at the fuse box to see if maybe the fuse for the fuel pump blew, but there is no label or placard that shows what fuse is for what circiut. What a bunch of B.S.!
I'm hoping it's not the fuel pump because I'm pretty sure it's in the fuel tank and would be a major deal.
Any ideas or suggestions?
How do I find out what fuse goes to what circiut? Is there a diagram on these boards that you know of?
Thanks

Hi, hope I can help.... It's very rare to me to see a fuse or relay go out like that. i see you have over 100k on your car. do you know if the fuel filter was ever replaced? also if you want you can pull up hard on the rear seat bench from both sides of the car and it will just unclip. under the seat bench on the passenger side you'll see where the fuel pump goes. you might have to take the cover off of it first which should be a round black plate with 4, 10mm nuts holding it down. have someone crank the car over and just put your hand on the top of the pump and without pulling it out of the tank you should be able to 1) hear the pump activate or 2) just feel the vibration of some fuel flowing thru it. remember that a clogged fuel filter can cause a pump to go so if you find that the pump isnt working and you end up replacing it you want to put a new filter in it even before you try your repair. if the pump seems to be ok write me back and we'll go from there.... talk to u soon

Hi Tim Thanks for the response.
I actually just got done with the repair and she's running fine. I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter. Repair was not hard at all.
I switched the horn relay with the pump relay to see if it was the relay or not. Relay was fine. Really was a PITA to get to the relays and have enough room to pull them and switch them around. That part was harder than replacing the fuel pump!
Anyway, thanks for being there.

I have a question & here is the info leading up to it.
I have a 2007 335i Sedan with 36,653 miles. Have had it a month tomorrow.
This has happened to me three times since I have driven it.
Daily driver car. On light acceleration or gassing it, then let off rapidly (jerk pulls in front or hits brake hard), the engine light comes on half filled after a soft chime.
There was no difference on how it drove. I pulled over, shut car off, then re-start & light was gone.
When I got home tonight, I pulled codes off the car to see what was saved.
I got three:
P142E (pd) Undefined Code
PO420 (pd) Catalytic Converter System - Efficiency below threshold (Bank 1)
PO 0430 (pd) Catalytic Converter System - Efficiency below threshold (Bank 2)
Now, I cleared the codes for now to see if they come back then I know it's a hard code.
I can replace O2 sensors & Cats myself thru my Extended warranty program.
What I'm not familiar with is the fuel pump issue with these cars.
My Question, Where or what should I do at this point?

 335i engine reliability
Hi
I'm very interested in getting a 335i when my current lease expires in a couple of months and had a couple of questions:
What's your experience with the reliability of the twin turbo engine?
Is there an expected "life span" of the engine/turbos?
I'm also interested in an aftermarket ECU upgrade, how would that affect reliability?
I'm familiar with Dinan and the warranty aspect, but I'm sure there are cheaper options but without the
warranty. Do you think Dinan is worth the extra money?
thanks

 Intrument cluster problems
Hey there,
I have a 1996 318I and I am having problems with the instrument cluster. Fist my gauges where working sporadically now all the needles have stopped working along with the mileage. My check engine lights still come on blinker lights work and the cluster illuminates but past that I get nothing any suggestions?

Your cats seem to have gone bad. Im a tech as well, but instead of bmws im a chevy tech, and they have the same issues.

 I would love some help.
I've been trying to get this M10 to start, and am trying to determine what has been done before me. I don't know what this is and can't find it in the manual. Please Advise.

Sorry about the long reply wait, but you sound like you have a tumbler issue with your ignition switch.
