I have a 1989 325i and the glove box is stuck closed.  I can pull up on the handle but the clasp does not open.  Is there a trick to getting this opened.  I just bought this car and it appears that this may have happened previously as there are some indentations on the vinyl suggesting that someone may have tried to pry it open.  I don't want to wreck anything so if this has happened to others give me your wisdom on this.

if you take the glovebox out you wil be able to get to the lock mechanisim whith the glove box on the work bench  you can get to the lock mechanism then just reset the lock   you can do this by     removing the   screws underneath the unit which are fairly easy and accessable there is one that is a slight pain, then if you open the heater vents on either side of the glovebox in the top corners of the vents there are too more screws dont forget the wiring for the torch and glovebox light!!!!
