I am having trouble with my transmission. If you watch the rpm's and don't let them go beyond 2500 it will work fine.If they go up near 3000 the transmission will go into fail safe mode;which means it goes into 4th gear and stays there until you shut the engine off and restart the car.That resets the computer. once you get to highway speed it's fine.you can set the cruise control at 110 or 120 and it will work all day.The problem is when you accelerate from a stop especially on a steep incline. You need to pull away fairly slow until you get rolling. I have replaced the fluid and filter which did improve it some but I have checked it out on the BMW forum and the experts say that when it goes into fail safe at 3000 rpm's it needs a rebuild. Would appreciate any insight into this problem.
