I have a 2001 325i with about 71000 miles. It has had all of the scheduled maintenance at the dealer. Recently i have had problems with the electric door locks and remote.
Sometimes the remote will not unlock the doors or will only unlock the drivers door and neither the remote or door lock button on the console will unlock the doors. What is really scary is that the door handles are disengaged when this happen and the doors can not be manually opened when this failure occurs. Seems like a poor failsafe to me not in the charactier of BMW.
Tonight i could not get out of the car, the unlock button would not unlock the doors, the handles did not work. I turned the car on and off, to AUX and off and finally after turning it on and off a couple of times something reset. and they unlocked.
