My 2001 325i has a sun roof with a sliding interior shield in the headliner. One day about a year ago I found a little piece of black plastic laying on the seat, then another, what the heck? I discovered that the plastic was from the little guide clips of the sunroof shield. They guide the shield in a track. The plastic ends disintegrated and broke off leaving little wire prongs that hang up.
The sunroof is basically un operable. Cost to fix by the dealer is $800 which according to them requires removal of the headliner and the sunroof assembly. Seems extreame to replace 4 little guide clips. I told them I would weld it shut before I would pay $800!
Any low cost solutions? I used the sun roof about 2 times a year....
