Post 318i need help ASAP!

hey i have just went and got myself a 318i and already i have noticed it needs a new head gasket and it looks as if it has been neediing one for a while now as there is quite a bit of water shown in the oil filler cap and it is also building up pressure down i have stripped it down and cleaned it up i am planning on replacing the oil filter and the head bolts as i have been told they are stretch down bolts* crazy .

The only thing i am not sure about and needing a bit of advice on is how to keep the timing/set the timing as i have never set the timing when it has been a timing chain it has always been timing belts i have worked on so far  crazy  but it would be greatful if anyone has any advice on what i should do to get round  this annoying little problem it's probably a simple thing but a just cant figure iit out down

got the head gasket changed today with a struggle as i was doing it on my own so it was a task and a half  Laughing  i have replaced the head bolts and the gasket but when i took the top front plate off to reveal the timing chain the gasket stayed complete and came off no bother it just seemed to fall off crazy  but now that i have put everything back on my 318i i seem to have an oil leak coming from either the head or the front chain cover plate and i am not that sure which one it is as there is thats many hoses and cables wraped around in the engine bay crazy just would be greatful if anyone on here could drop me some advice what to check or tell me what they think it could be as it wasnt cheap for the head gasket  eeek not long until it will be show time for her hopefully beer  drive
