I don't doubt it is a ground, but where do I start? Do you know where the Tach grounds?

Thanks,

Post groundis ground

simply ground the assembly to any ground surface available. there are only two sides of power in any circuit ac or dc doesnt matter! With DC THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF POWER IS GROUND WHY BOTHER TO LOCATE THE GROUND USED WHEN SEASONED bmw TECHS HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE 850 tEST WITH JUMPER WIRE WITH ALLIGATOR CLIPS TO BE SAFEST INSTALL CIRCUIT BREAKER OR INLINE FUSE IN JUMPER WIRE!!

The root cause of the tach problem is poor grounds which can also affect your charging system.
