Post 91' Series 850

I have taken my car to a mechanic because it won't run.  He has changed the spark plugs, put in new batteries, change a few sensors (not sure what they are), but when he plugs it in to the computer it gets all kinds of mixed signals.  He can get the car to start & run for a short period of time but then it dies out.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  BTW, I live in Tulsa Oklahoma if you happen to know of a mechanic here who could help me.

Post e31 wont stay running

I know there are 3 chips , one for each bank of 6 cylinders and a third to stack onto those two to control both. If your mechanic doesnt know what he is reading and or why  he probably doesnt have the correct equipment!! How would such a person obtain one? The e31 is one of the most problematic Beemer to properly diagnose!! YOU BETTER GO TO A BMW DEALER OR EQUIVALENT THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES CAPABLE OF DIAGNOSING THIS CAR PROPERLY!! There are innumerable motors, relays with even more sequence of operations. Expect to pay aprox 3,500 per year to keep your 91 in shape,Thats after it is in shape! A poorly repaired or maintanenced  E31 is more expensive to restore than to replace. Good luck!
