Post Auto dim rear view mirrors

Hi guys.  I have a problem with my auto dim rear view mirror on my 116i.   After parking outside in around 32 deg C temperature, I noticed a darn bubble on the rearview mirror.  Looking at other fora, i learned that when this happens, the liquid, which is actually caustic soda, would drill a hole on the plastic and fall onto the gearshift which will damage the aluminum and leather boot.  has anyone had this problem too?  I want to change the mirror to a manual dim type.  Is this possible knowing that the lcd for the alarm is also intgrated in the rear view mirror?

The mirror should not dim. If it does dim, recheck the reverse light feed wiring. Check your manuals for more assurance.
