Post BMW X5 Alarm Problem

I've just brought a 2003 bmw x5. when I lock the car with the remote, the led on the dash remains on permanently. However if I lock it with the key it flashes as it says it should do in the manual. I've checked and when the car is locked with the remote the car is deadlocked. any help?

Hello, My neighbor has a X5 3.0d, private number plate, so the year is unknown. The alarm seems to have a mind of its own, going off all the time. I thought it was because she parked with one side on the pavement, but it happens when parked totally on the street as well. I've read that sensors cause this problem. Is there anything I can get her to disable? Is this a known problem? I could use a good nights sleep, can anyone help? Thanks, Sean
