CAI and ECU on E65

Post CAI and ECU on E65

I recently acquired a '03 745i.  I am considering adding a Cold Air Intake, specifically the AFE with a cold air box to achieve additional fuel economy around town.  I wanted to know if the ECU has to be re-programmed with the addition of the CAI?  If you disconnect the battery, will this reset the ECU to the factory settings and then the ECU will monitor its sensors and adjust automatically.  I have other vehicles that do do this.
Thanks!
