Post Cam timing aligment E24

Quite a while back i tore down my 84 633csi for head work, since then i have forgotten how to align the cam to get timing right. I know the crank balancer alignes with the mark on the timing cover but cant remember if the cam notch goes in alignment with the top of the head or not, which puts it at approx 10 o clock in relation to the crank. please let me know if this is right or not, i still have the cam gear off and can align by the half moon key for the rotor.
