cd changer problem

Post cd changer problem 

i have a 2003 bmw x5 and cant get the cd shuttle player to play cds.I can load cds into it and it loads them into the changer but when i press the mode button to play a cd the nav screen reads no disc. The previous owner swears it works,any adeas? confused
