I tried posting this in the x5 forum but I got no responses so far so I appologize for the duplicate post; I did buy the car since and still need advice on fixing:

Hi, I have been in the market for and x5 for a while now. I found one I like and the price is right but some of the digital ododmeter and the dash computer leds are out. The salesman told me to contact a local spedometer shop who told me it would have to be replaced at the dealer. the dealer said the whole computer would have to be replaced for about $1k parts and labor or $660 just for the parts. Anyone have any feedback or advice, I would like to buy this car but the dash isuues is kinodf a deal breaker unless I get a better plan.
