For 16" alloys

And

for 17" alloys

The wheels on car are 185/65/r15

235/40r17  ---- Tiny bit bigger

What difference would it make if i put 215/40/r17 on the car?

And what are the offset for bmw wheels?

Wider tires equal more rubber on the road. More rubber equals better traction

The appropriate wheel size for a car wheel depends on a number of factors, including bolt pattern,the diameter of the bolt circle ,the offset the size of the wheel ,the centerbore the load capacity.
