Post Driver door lock not working

Hi! I bought a E39 530d Sport in June - my first BMW and am loving it. However, yesterday my driver-side door lock has stopped working properly. It sometimes does not lock/unlock when I use the remote. Any ideas as to what I need to do to sort this?

what year? the driver side door locks intermittently but the other doors acts as it should be? try to press manually the door (open/close) switch and lock/unlock using the key or the central locking switch.

Post door lock

Hi. The car is a 2002 model. All other doors work okay. I can lock/unlock manually. But when I put the key into the door lock, there is a distinct point where I need to slightly force the key to turn before it locks/unlocks - almost like the key gets stuck. I've tried putting in door lock de-icer but that didn't loosen anything up. Any suggestions or do I need to take this to a garage?

it's quite an easy job to replace the key fob or opening the door panel but you need to have the right tools and experience before doing it. if you're not a DIY'er it's better to just bring the car to the garage. goodluck.

Sounds like the Remote door lock actuator if going out. Like what Windz has stated. If you have a DIY'er you can tear apart the door panel and check the volts/resistance and such on the lock actuator.

Post Door Lock

Hi Windz and Ncgneto - I'll try and find a local garage that seems reliable and reasonable - not too confident about my own skills on this.
