Garage Cabinets, Garage Storage, and Garage Organization

I JUST PURCHASED A 2008 528XI WITH NAVIGATION SYSTEM ANS SEE THAT NAVI RUNS OFF OF A DVD BUT I CAN'T WATCH A DVD MOVIE ON IT. Am I doing Something Wrong, maybe there is a setting for this? Is there any way to watchy a dvd on this system? some type of hack or upgrade? Please help>>>> I am like a BMW Rooki/Dummie. I went from a 96 Acura to an 08 5 series. wow...

i think it's a safety feature not letting you watch dvd while driving.

the dealership can do it coz they have the right tools but i doubt they will allow you to remove this safety feature.

It doesn't even play dvd movies while I am parked. The dealer said its only for navigation dvds. but I kno its a dvd rom because it has the dvd sign on it. maybe its just missing a driver or something to get it to play dvd movies? do you think I will get info from a BMW tech? Ior I can give one of them a few bucks under the table to hook mine up? does anyone know of someone or have any ideas? Please help...

the dealer is right... the DVD drive for NAV processor is only intended for navigation DVD's. to be certain try to get the technical data about your car and check if it can really used for other dvd cd's as well.
