hi everyone
i own a 89 318i i've had it for a while and am constantly tinkering with it and modifying it (not drastically). I recently undertook a new project to illuminate my gear stick, having found the instructions on the net. once i had done the electronics required, it needed to simply be connected to the wiring for the ash tray. When i did this it did not work. and now i cannot get the ash tray lights (front and rear) to work nor the instrument lights. I have checked all fuses and they are all intact, why cannot i get my instrument lights to work? i don't want to have to get it done by an auto electrician, but unless someone can offer any help i dont have much choice, as i cant drive at night.
any help would be much apreciated

you should check if 12v dc is supplied to the instrument cluster and ash tray.
