Post I am a brand new(bie) member with a question...

Hello to all,
I am a new member here and thought I would do a short intro.
I am mostly a motorcycle person but we own a 1985 BMW 528E (for the past 6 years) and bought a 2006 BMW X5 with 31,000 miles on the clock this past weekend.
I wish I could say we enjoy driving the X5, but we bought it Monday.
It was returned to the dealer on Tuesday because the keys did not function and the headlights did not burn (some did, but not all).
They told me today that they had to replace the fiber-optic cable to the headlights(?). So, we are off to a rough start.
The car had a brand new state inspection applied to the windshield, expiring in May 2010.
Hmmm, I do wonder if the dealer really checked it out or just stuck the sticker to the glass and walked away? I suspect the latter. The State of Texas might find that interesting.

I do have a question, but am not sure where to post it. I assume under the X5, but perhaps the admin can move this to the proper place..........
Question:
I have bought a Curt brand trailer hitch for the X5, but it did not come with any wiring. At the dealer today, I was told that the wiring came as an option back when the X5 was first introduced (2000?), but that this option was discontinued and now the wiring comes only with the purchase of a hitch. $$$$$$ for that! The parts man looked on the computer for a harness and said there were none in Germany, but he did find one in Ontario Canada. I decided to buy that one.
Is there any trick to hooking this up to the X5 electrical?
Thanks to anyone who may be familiar with installing a trailer wiring harness on an X5 annd offer me some direction........... pg
