My 1985 BMW 318i has irregular idling.

The vacuum hoses are not responsible, and I'm certain it's either the ICU or ICV (if not both).

While removing the ICU to examine its condition, the socket which attaches to it came loose.


Meaning all the wires that attach to the outlets on the ICU (12 total) are not in the same order. I'm not certain if each one has to attach to a specific connector or not.

Since the length of each wire is longer or shorter then the next, I can assume which one fits where. However, I do not want to make this a permanent solution until I’m certain of the order.

Does anyone know the correct order (if there be one), or has information or a link to electrical diagrams to assist me?
