Post Instrument Cluster Upgrade

I have a Low Instrument Cluster and just got a Used High Instrument Cluster which has 30,000 miles on it. . .Now my car only has 2 plugs for the Cluster, and the new one requires 3 plugs. . I understand there is a Retrofit harness for this, and the Coolant Switch needs to be installed. . . .

I need to know if it's possible to install a USED cluster or not??? I've been reading a lot on this and everybody says something different...

Do i need a NEW cluster so that it can be coded with my VIN, or can a USED one be reset, and re-coded with my VIN ? ? ?

If so, how and with what can it be done ? ? ?

What happens if I just get the harness and install it without recoding anything ? ? ?

Thanks
