Hi Guys new to the forum i got some probs which i am getting nowhere with so am after expert help

I have recently bought a 2000 e46 318 i se.
when i bought it it ran lovely with no problems at all.
i put a cone filter on which sounded nice and drove fine for months but then the car started to play up.

First it start to run a bit rough and lack of power so we checked the plugs to find it was not firing on the 4th.
so new plugs

still the same so went to the garage and ended up needing ht leads, done.

drove fine although the engine managment light came on so took it back to the garage to turn off.
drove fine for a week then the light came back on, and have been through this process 3 times.

i have put the original air filter back on as i read that oil may destroy the MAF, and reset the light.

it still came back on. driove fine no probs so thought maybe a light fault
back on the diagnostics flashes up 6 codes. and advised to change the MAF

NOW reading various forums i see to test the MAF u need to dissconnect the sensor then if it drives better the sensor is dead but mine drove worse which apparently means the MAF is ok.

So im stuck
i am getting
a lack of power,
a bit juddery,
when started in hot weather sound loud almost sucking noise
and seems to be using alot of water not exccessive but from week to week prob about .5 to 1 pint

So pls guys any help and advice

i am checking the hoses for splits and holes tonight
