Hi there, anyone have a solution to hooking up their iphone to the stereo in a 2000 E39?  One that doesn't use FM radio

I've been wondering if an iPod or MP3 player output could be spliced into the line from a remote CD unit to the receiver, so the receiver would think the signal is coming from the CD player (which has been shut off with a manual power switch).

Any stereo guys know if this would work?

I'm pretty sure there's direct factory (OEM) hookup iPod integration kits online and on eBay. They'd use the CDC input. The CDC controls on the radio face would control the iPod adaptor, it would charge the iPod when plugged in, and it would display titles on the radio screen. Do you have the non-navi or navi model? With or without the CDC (CD Changer)?
