 Issues 1986 325E
I have a 1986 325e that apparently hates me, as the following issues have manifested this past month:
1) Clutch pedal occasionally sticks and has to be pulled back up with my toe while driving. Sometimes when stopped in first with the pedal down, the clutch will 'release' such that the car tries to go forward and I can't pull it out of gear and have to hold the break tightly to keep it in place until I can go, then the pedal only comes up a little but and again has to be pulled up. The car also has difficulty shifting into second from any gear. It won't quite engage and bucks and grinds like I missed the shift and pulled the pedal up before it was actually in gear.
2) Intermittantly runs rich(I believe, it blows black smoke and has no power and the mileage falls to crap). It can be so bad that the car is difficult to ge to take off on a hill because it will sputter. You can't pass anyone on a freeway. It will eventually try to stall out, but flutter at really low RPM's for a little bit. Sometimes it dies from here and sometimes it sputters a bunch and then takes off. I have struggled with this for a month. Changed the air meter and the coolant sensor at the suggestion of friends but am lost.
Love this car, as its in mint condition and before these issues drove very well. But I don't think it loves me! Anyone have any suggestions for either problem?
Thanks!
