Garage Cabinets, Garage Storage, and Garage Organization

I have a 96 Z3 which is leaking over the passenger seat just where the roof folds.  I have taken it to the local BMW garage and they want to replace the windscreen rubber and both rubbers over the windows. at a cost of £298.00!
I have done the spray test and I cannot locate where the water is coming in which is really annoying.  I am also at a loss as to why the windscreen rubber has anything to do with this leak.
Are leaks in the soft tops common on Z3's?  If so should I just put up with it?

I had leaks too. Solved by simply spraying silicone on the rubber. Hold a sheet behind to prevent overspray inside. Operate window a few inches a few times. May need to be repeated. Worked for me 3 times now. (2000 Z3)
