Post Need help with a 318is purchase! Should I buy this???

I am from Australia, but I will convert the figures to US

Its a black (the colour im after) 318is
1994, 85000 miles
1 owner since new, but no log books!
sunroof, and all electrics working fine
Leather interior, with really nice leather seats (probably not like the leather you see more commonly in this year bmw)
Very good condition

We negotiated to $9250, but I was going to go offer him $9000 and purchase it.

But now I suddenly heard that one of my friends friend that had a 318i, had so many non-stop problems.

Now im really skeptical about buying one.

Any advice from people that have owned, or know people that have owned one?

That would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Admin  Very Happy

OK I have the car in my hands now.

A very nice car to drive!

Just 1 problem, that I know is common in these cars:
As soon as you start, you get idle problems.
What happens is the revs go up and down a bit (smoothly), for about 5 seconds... then it idles where it should, and stays there as long as the car is on.
Now, if the engines cold, it happens to lower its revs so low, that the engine stalls.
So, basically, I have to turn the car on 2 or 3 times in the cold!

How do I go about fixing this, without ending up with huge bills??

Thanks

start with the basics fuel injector cleaning, spark plugs, clean MAF sensor, filter, etc.

Check to see if the Euro spec cars have a cold start relay. I would check that too. Wink
