Post Newbie After Some Buying Advice

Hi all,

I'm new to BMW's and I've recently been looking at 325's (E36? around M-P reg). I was just after a bit of advice really on what to look out for. I know of the usuals but with any make of car there is usually a common problem. For example, on the MK3 Mondeos watch out for the rear subframebushes, or on the MK3 Golfs look out for rusty arches etc etc. So I was just after a few pointers from the people who actually own them and live with them day to day.

Any advice would be great,

Cheers all  beer

Wiring for the lights go out on them alot. All that is needed to fix it is just new connectors. Thats the main thing i have come across with mine. Also the OBDII climate control display dies irregularly early in life. OBDI is a manual climate control. (i like those better)

Is the OBDII climate control display easy to fix? I'm quite handy with cars but anything complicated might throw me, especially car electrics. The most I've ever managed to do on the electrical side of cars is to wire a stereo in!

Wiring a stereo isn't bad. I used to do that now i just leave it to the pros. Either You would need to tear it apart and resolder The LED's or just buy a new one and plug it in. Putting a new one in isn't bad but the redoing the LED's might be tricky if you are not good at soldering and do not have a steady hand.
