Post newbie, constant audible tone

i have a 2002 X5 which has a constant audible tone, this tone can also be heard after the vehicle has been parked and the doors have been locked, i have taken it for a diagnostics check and i was informed it came back with a fault code of - "CODE 10 - ACOUSTIC GENERATOR FRONT - SHORT TO GROUND OR OPEN CIRCUIT".
Can any1 shed some light on this as i am at a loss ? thanx
