This is a weird one. I bought a 2001 540 with 6-spd and sport suspension a month ago. Great car in great shape. The other day, though, the radio wouldn't turn on. I went through the manual, saw that I could press the "audio" button with the key out of the ignition and sure enough the radio came on. Now, though, it won't respond to any of the controls except for the volume knob. Can't turn it off, change bands, access CD changer. The steering wheel volume and pre-set control does work.

Any ideas on what the problem might be? I've checked all three fuses for the radio and they're fine.

try to check the wirings..
