I have a 2003 BMW Z3. i saw yesterday a electric supercharger for a BMW Z3. This supercharger gives 50 more horsepower. HAs anyone put one of these in their car. If so did it really help the car? Thanks in advance.

electric supercharger.... ??? This is gonna take some explaining. How does it differ from a standard supercharger?

AceSly, a standard supercharger is powered by the engine pulley... as RMPs increase, the pulley spins faster which in turn spins the supercharger faster. this lets the supercharger force more air into the carb. a turbo is basically the same idea, however its powered by exhaust gasses. The fumes flow through the turbo fan which runs a compressor to pump air into the cylinders.

I suppose an electric supercharger… would basically be an electric air compressor fitted to the carb somehow… actually.. You could just hook up your compressor to the intake to pull more air through. I cant imagine one of these being able to produce a real psi increase.. Maybe that’s why they’re only advertising +50hp.
