Post Warranty Coverage

I purchased an '02 745 Li back in april.  Used with only about 32K miles, and full new car warranty coverage until Sept. '08.  Took it to dealer week before last because front passenger seat quit moving forward and back.  Seat motor would turn on and off, but no seat movement.

Anyway, they ordered a part and I took it in on Monday, and when they took the seat apart, they discovered that the wiring harness on the part they'd ordered didn't match the wiring harness on the car, so they had to order another new part.  Finally got it all back together today, and they can't get the computer to recognize the rain sensor.  The windshield on the car is not a BMW windshield.  It is a Pilkington windshield, but just not BMW.  Anyway, the rain sensor was working when I took the car in, but now they're saying I need to pay for a new windshield (they won't pay for it under warranty) before they can get it all back together and working properly.

I don't believe that the rain sensor wont' work with the windshield.  I think they just can't figure out what's not working, and they want to try replacing the windshield.  Can't believe they want me to pay for a new windshield.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Does BMW have regional service reps?  Tried the service # listed on the web site, but those folks were not helpful.  Gotta be someone I can convince to try something else that'll get this car going again without me paying $800 for a new windshield.
